ABERDEEN, S.D. – Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Friday, April 13, on the Northern State University campus for the Regional Science Education Center and Athletic and Recreation Fields project.

NSU students, faculty and administration, as well as South Dakota Board of Regents representatives, attended the ceremonies, which took place inside the Johnson Fine Arts Center. University and project officials spoke, and a reception was held between groundbreaking ceremonies. 

The state-of-the-art Regional Science Education Center, which will open for the fall 2019 semester, will advance educational and research opportunities for the university and entire region.

The Athletic and Recreation Fields project, expected to be completed in August 2018, is part of the Educational Impact Campaign. This collaborative effort between NSU and the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired will also include a new SDSBVI at the current site of NSU’s Jerde Hall, and an on-campus regional sports complex at the current SDSBVI site.

As these projects progress on campus, individuals attending NSU fine arts events are encouraged to arrive early, as parking will be limited in front of the Johnson Fine Arts Center.
