Welcome Back, Wolves!

Welcome back to campus for spring semester! The NSU Wolf Shoppe is having a Welcome Back Sale starting today, Jan. 8, through Friday, Jan. 12. Get 20 percent off apparel and giftware. 

ZUMBA with Lara and Marilin

Starting Monday, Jan. 8, zumba will be taught from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday in the studio room in Dacotah Gym. Classes will run through Feb. 28.

New Campus Events Calendar

The new homepage Events Calendar, link found in the footer of northern.edu, is now live. The new Events Calendar contains only public events; the All-Events Calendar is now located in myNSU.

You may request a room by clicking on the Room Request at the bottom of northern.edu (your network/email username and password are required).

Winter Club Rush

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, Student Involvement and Leadership will host Winter Club Rush. Members from several student organizations will be in the Student Center from 4 to 6 p.m. to promote their organizations and recruit new members. CAB will be giving away Wings tickets for the Jan. 19 game, so be sure to stop by their table to get your ticket before they are gone!

NSU Community Forum Jan. 11

NSU will hold a second community forum to discuss the university’s campus master plan 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The forum is open to the public. Community members are encouraged to submit questions beforehand on NSU’s Campus Master Plan webpage, which includes the most up-to-date information on NSU building projects.

‘I Hear America Singing’ set for Jan. 11

Dr. Marla Fogderud, soprano, and Dr. William Wieland, piano, will present a lecture recital on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in Krikac Auditorium. The program, “I Hear America Singing: Songs from Throughout American History,” includes American solo song literature from the Revolutionary War era to the present. The performance is free and open to the public.

South Dakota Jazz Festival is Jan. 18

The 48th annual South Dakota Jazz Festival will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. The Jazz Festival brings together more than 180 students from high school jazz groups across South Dakota and the Upper Midwest, featuring competitive and non-competitive categories in vocal jazz, jazz combos and big bands. The event will culminate in a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the JFAC Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater, featuring guest performers The Hornheads. Tickets for the event will be available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for NSU faculty and staff. This concert is free for NSU students with ID, as well as directors and students who participated in the festival earlier in the day. The concert is also an Aberdeen Community Concert for those who have purchased tickets to the concert series. 

Primrose Arts and Lecture Series: ‘Music for Piano Four-Hands’

The next NSU Primrose Arts and Lecture Series, “Music for Piano Four-Hands” with Dr. Kenneth Boulton and Ms. JoAnne Barry, will take place 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Aberdeen’s Primrose Retirement Community, 1701 Third Ave. S.E. Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony concert: ‘American Visions’

The first Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony concert of the year, “American Visions,” will be Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. Get tickets here: “American Visions.”
