Faculty and staff

The South Dakota Board of Regents will migrate our shared environment to a cloud solution. This migration is required to support our server and storage requirements. Multiple systems that are used every day will be impacted.

Beginning at 6 p.m. CST March 5, 2021, the following systems will be unavailable:

  • Banner will be unavailable until March 10. This system includes human resources, finance and student.
  • All employees: Timesheets and tax statements will be unavailable
  • Purchasing: SDezBuy will be unavailable and no purchase orders can be completed. Please plan accordingly.
  • Faculty: Grade entry for classes that end at midterm will be unavailable. These final grades are not due until March 17.
  • DegreeWorks will be unavailable until March 13. Advisors: Student information will be unavailable so advising appointments should be avoided during this time.
  • Some Cognos Reports will be impacted until March 29.
    • ODS will be down a much longer time. Reports in Cognos that rely on ODS will be down until March 29. These reports can be identified by ones that have the fourth letter as “O” (REGO).
    • All other reports (REGL) will be available March 10.
  • Starfish will be available for submitting midterm deficiencies.
  • NSU Mobile will be unavailable until March 10.

Several other systems will remain available and accessible for faculty, staff and students; however, data will not be updated while the Banner system is down. These systems include D2L, ImageNow, 25Live, Starfish, ExLibris Library System, SNAP and myNSU Portal.

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.

Students

The South Dakota Board of Regents will migrate our shared environment to a cloud solution. This migration is required to support our server and storage requirements. Multiple systems that are utilized every day will be impacted. Please note the unavailability of the following systems and ensure you plan accordingly.

  • Self-Service Banner (SSB) System will be down March 5–9. This impacts course registration, student employee timesheets, tax statements, etc.
  • DegreeWorks will be down March 5–12. Please avoid advising appointments during this time, as student information will be limited. You will not be able to make registration changes or see your academic records during this time.
  • NSU Mobile will be down March 5–9.
  • WebAdvisor will no longer be available and all student records will only be available through Self-Service Banner.
  • You will be able to request transcripts through Parchment, but requests will not be fulfilled until March 10.

Fortunately, several important systems will still be available for you. These include D2L, Starfish Early Alert System, the ExLibris Library System, SNAP and the myNSU portal.

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
