ABERDEEN, S.D. – The sixth annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will be held in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center on Tuesday, March 31.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social, and the lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. This year’s speaker is Damian Mason, a businessman, agriculturist, speaker, podcaster, writer and consultant. 

Mason speaks on the two subjects he knows best: business and agriculture. Since 1994, he has spoken to nearly 2,000 audiences in all 50 states, five provinces and seven foreign countries. A graduate of Purdue University, Mason also studied comedy writing and improvisation at The Second City - Chicago.

The Lamont-Rhodes Lecture Series is sponsored by the NSU School of Business and Dacotah Bank, and hosted by the NSU Foundation. It is made possible thanks to contributions from descendants of longtime Aberdeen residents Ernest and Louise Rhodes, William and Frances (Peg) Lamont, and Robert and Ruth Lamont—families that have a long history of providing financial services to South Dakota farms, ranches and small business.

The series also promotes NSU’s banking and financial services program, which was created in response to the region's growing demand for financial services professionals. The program prepares Northern students for careers in all facets of the financial services industry, including the development of skills needed by community banks.
