ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business student Ty Dillabough recently took first place in Sales and Marketing Executives Inc. of Sioux Falls’ (SME) 2018 scholarship competition.

Dillabough is a sophomore business marketing major from Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.

Dillabough received first place honors and a $2,000 scholarship after competing in a sales role-play, judged on creativity, presentation skills, interaction skills of the product or service, sales, persuasion and ability to respond to questions and objections.

Dillabough was one of four students chosen to compete in the competition. Other award-winners included Lindsey Vogl of Dakota State University, Brett Shepley of Augustana University and Christina Demissie from Augustana University.

Dillabough also recently qualified as a finalist in the South Dakota Governor’s Giant Vision competition.

SME has awarded over $194,500 in college scholarships since 1990 and has supported South Dakota Youth Business Adventure to the tune of $247,500. These awards, plus prior support to Junior Achievement of South Dakota and other organizations, have brought total contributions to youth in the state to more than half a million dollars.
