ABERDEEN, S.D. – Longtime Northern State University women’s basketball coach Curt Fredrickson will serve as parade marshal for the 103rd annual NSU Homecoming Parade.

Fredrickson retired this spring after 39 seasons with the Wolves. He left his post as the winningest coach in Northern State history with an 846-306 record, two NAIA National Championships and numerous conference titles.

The Gypsy Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, on Aberdeen’s Main Street, with a start time of 9 a.m. Parade registration continues via this online form, with a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.

This year’s parade theme is “Wolves at the Movies,” which will provide participants a wide array of options for float decoration. For information about the parade and registration process, please contact the Student Affairs office by calling 605-626-3007 or email homecoming@northern.edu.

Homecoming events at Northern also include a Thursday night coronation of Queen and Marshal, as well as King of the Gyps. The football team plays at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Swisher Field. The volleyball team plays at 6 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday in Wachs Arena. The soccer team plays at 3 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the Athletic and Recreation Fields. NSU cross country’s Steps for Shep race will take place Saturday morning before the parade.
