ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Foundation has hired Cathy B. Hall, CPA, as its new chief financial officer.

Hall began her duties on Oct. 30. She is a graduate of Northern State University with a B.S. in Fine Arts and did post-graduate work in accounting at the University of South Dakota. Hall has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, higher education and nonprofit accounting. In addition, she has served as a finance team member on numerous peer reviews and focused visits for the Higher Learning Commission.

"The NSU Foundation has experienced unprecedented growth thanks to our loyal alumni and friends,” said Todd Jordre, president/CEO of the NSU Foundation. “It was time for us to expand our staff as we continue to raise major dollars for scholarships and for the expansion of the master plan and strategic vision of the university.”

As CFO, Hall will direct all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the NSU Foundation. Her duties include preparing information for Foundation committees related to financial projections and financial trend analysis, as well as evaluating the financial impact of new programs/strategies.

“I am honored to be the first CFO for the NSU Foundation,” said Hall. “This is a great time for Northern State University, and it’s exciting to be working for the Foundation as it assists the university with continued growth and future expansion. I’m thrilled I get to work on behalf of my alma mater.”

Hall and her husband, Ronald, live in Aberdeen. They have three grown children, all involved in education. In her spare time, Hall enjoys gardening, playing the piano, reading and canoeing with her husband and their British lab, Ellie.
