ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University and Southeast Technical College recently announced new articulation agreements that will provide additional pathways for students graduating with an associate degree to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree from Northern.

The new agreements allow STC graduates with an associate of applied science in any field to receive a block transfer of up to 30 technical credits at Northern. STC and NSU have signed articulations for the following NSU programs: Human Performance, Sports Marketing and Administration, Banking and Financial Services, Business Administration, Finance, Management and Marketing. They are working on additional agreements as well.

Additionally, graduates of STC’s Accounting associate degree program can matriculate into NSU’s Accounting bachelor’s degree program.

“The new articulation agreements with NSU are a great way for STC graduates to continue their education as they work toward their career goals,” said Dr. Benjamin Valdez, Southeast Tech’s Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Southeast Technical College provides a great foundation for both students that wish to complete a bachelor’s degree, and those that enter the workforce with an associate degree.”

“We are excited to partner with Southeast Technical College to provide opportunities for seamless progression for South Dakota students to continue with their bachelor’s degrees and promote individual student career success and workforce development for the state of South Dakota,” said Dr. Michael Wanous, NSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The agreements apply to any Southeast Technical College student who meets the requirements and enrolls at Northern beginning in January 2022. Additionally, the agreements apply to STC graduates from the past 10 years who meet the requirements; they, too, are now eligible to finish their bachelor’s at Northern.
