ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Elvira Sanatullova-Allison has been named the new dean of the Northern State University Millicent Atkins School of Education.

Sanatullova-Allison most recently served as the Acting Dean and Unit Head of Education and Chair of the Department of Education in the College of Education and Professional Studies at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.V.

“Dr. Sanatullova-Allison brings a wealth of P-12 experience in schools in Russia and the United States and has 20 years of experience in training and developing teachers in Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and West Virginia,” said NSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alan LaFave. “She has had a successful 18-year record of administrative experience as a college dean, department chair and program director/coordinator in higher education, both public and private.”

Sanatullova-Allison received her bachelor’s degree in French/German and foreign language education at Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. She earned her master’s degree in modern languages and literatures and her Ph.D. in education – administration, curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Sanatullova-Allison will begin at NSU on Aug. 6, replacing Dr. Kelly Duncan, who is retiring after more than 30 years in education at the K-12 and higher ed levels in South Dakota.
