ABERDEEN, S.D. – As part of a strategic expansion of staffing and roles within the Northern State University Foundation, Jon Olson has been promoted to senior vice president of development.

Olson joined the Northern State team in July 2014 as the vice president of development in the NSU Foundation. Olson's primary responsibilities are major gift development and oversight of alumni relations and research staff.

He has many campaign experiences that will assist with the recently launched Educational Impact Campaign.

“The momentum at Northern is outstanding, and to be offered a promotion due to performance and longevity is an honor,” Olson said. “It will be a lot of fun and very rewarding to be a part of this campaign. Northern is experiencing a transformational time in our history and to be part of that is something I don’t take lightly.”

Olson had similar responsibilities at Bemidji State University’s Alumni and Foundation office for four years before his time in Aberdeen. Prior to that, Olson spent two years as an assistant athletic director at Upper Iowa University, where he was responsible for external operations.

Olson received his bachelor's degree from St. John's (Minn.) University in 1996 and received his master's in sports administration and facility management from Ohio University in 2001. Olson and his wife, Betsy, have two sons, Andrew Street and Charlie.
