ABERDEEN, S.D. – The annual Northern State University Jazz Swing Dance will be held from 7-11 p.m. on Friday, April 26. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and there will be a free dance lesson given by John Kersten from 6-6:45 p.m.
The public is invited to the event, which will take place at the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center (second-floor Library Auditorium), located at 225 3rd Ave. SE. The space for this event has been recently renovated with a new hardwood floor.
The NSU Two O'Clock Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart, will perform along with the Aberdeen Jazz Ensemble and Aberdeen Community Big Band, both directed by Jerome Letcher.
This year marks a new partnership between the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center and the annual NSU Jazz Swing Dance. The partnership aims to inject fresh energy and create a new tradition for this much-anticipated NSU Department of Music season finale.
"It's become part of Aberdeen's culture, and we're just on cloud nine with these new changes," said Manhart.
Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, contact the NSU School of Fine Arts at 605-626-2497.
