ABERDEEN, S.D. –An article by Northern State University’s Dr. Kristi Bockorny, "Entrepreneurs’ Courage, Psychological Capital, and Life Satisfaction," has been published in the Organizational Psychology section of Frontiers in Psychology.

The paper was co-authored by Dr. Carolyn Youssef-Morgan and came from a portion of Bockorny’s dissertation, and initially started with her studies on certain characteristics that would lead to entrepreneurial success.

“I did look at various success factors, but this paper focuses on the life satisfaction of the entrepreneur,” said Bockorny. “Many entrepreneurs are extremely passionate about their new idea or business venture. I believed that courage would be important for entrepreneurs.”

An excerpt from the abstract states the study examines the relationship between entrepreneurs’ courage, psychological capital and life satisfaction. Results show that entrepreneurs’ courage is related to their life satisfaction, even after accounting for various characteristics of the entrepreneur and the venture.

Bockorny joined Northern's faculty in 2010 as an instructor. She attended Northern State University and graduated with her B.A. in business education and finance. She went on to earn her M.A. in management and Ph.D. in human capital management at Bellevue University.
