John Long

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. John Long has published an article in the scholarly journal, Weather and Climate Extremes.

“Tornado seasonality in the southeastern United States” examined whether any shifts in tornado seasonality have occurred in the region of the southeastern United States over the past seven decades. Long co-authored the article with Paul Stoy and Tobias Gerken, both of Montana State University.

Long, assistant professor of computational biology, has worked at NSU since May 2015. He earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics at State University of New York. He earned both his master’s degree in ecological and environmental statistics and his doctorate in ecology and environmental science at Montana State University.
