ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Phi Beta Lambda students did very well in the recent virtual State Leadership Conference competition. 

Each of the nine NSU PBL members placed in at least one competitive event. As a team, NSU PBL came away with 10 first-place awards, seven second-place awards and one third-place award.

All of the students now qualify to compete at the upcoming virtual National Leadership Conference.

“I’m thankful for the dedication each of these students have shown to Phi Beta Lambda and NSU,” said PBL Advisor Dr. Amber Henderson. “Competing at this conference complements their academic experience, and gives them an edge as rising leaders and professionals.”

First Place

  • Chrissy Stoltenberg, Stratford, S.D.: Web Design; Accounting Principles; Contemporary Sports Issues
  • Eric Lacher, Aberdeen: Entrepreneurship; Management Concepts
  • Casey Solseng, Park River, N.D.: Insurance Concepts; Retail Management
  • Lincoln Flakus, Aberdeen: Sports Management and Marketing

Second Place

  • Kendra Hinz, Roscoe, S.D.: Computer Concepts
  • Haley Wenger, Gregory, S.D.: Help Desk
  • Amber Thelen, Alexandria, S.D.: Organizational Behavior and Leadership
  • Roney: Marketing Analysis and Decision Making
  • Lacher: Marketing Concepts
  • Solseng, Thelen, Wenger: Human Resource Management
