  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business student Ty Dillabough recently took first place in Sales and Marketing Executives Inc. of Sioux Falls’ (SME) 2018 scholarship competition.

    Dillabough is a sophomore business marketing major from Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.

    Dillabough received first place honors and a $2,000 scholarship after competing in a sales role-play, judged on creativity, presentation skills, interaction skills of the product or service, sales, persuasion and ability to respond to questions and objections.

    Oral Presentation Winners:

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Four Northern State University alumni will be honored at NSU’s first-ever spring Distinguished Alumni Banquet.

    The event will take place on May 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Aberdeen’s Ramkota Convention Center. One graduate from each of Northern’s four schools will receive a Distinguished Alumni Award, which are given to individuals who have distinguished themselves through personal successes and civic contributions, while bringing a sense of pride to the college community.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Drs. Allen Barclay and Doug Ohmer of the Northern State University School of Business have co-written a scholarly article that will be published in the Journal of Management Policy and Practice (JMPP).

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The fourth annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will be held in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, March 21.

    The event begins with a breakfast buffet at 7:30 a.m., with the presentation at 8:30 a.m. This year’s speaker is Eric Snodgrass, director of undergraduate studies for the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who will deliver the talk, “Weather Risk - Predicting Chaos.”

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter/Business Club will be hosting a business attire clothing drive throughout the week of Feb. 5.

    PBL/Business Club is asking NSU faculty and staff, as well as the Aberdeen community to donate any gently used dress clothes that they no longer want to their clothing drive.

    From Feb. 5 to 9, collection boxes will be put out on the NSU campus in Lincoln Hall Room 101 and Spafford Hall Room 204.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Robert Preston, assistant professor of banking and financial services of the Northern State University School of Business, recently published a scholarly article in the Northwestern Financial Review.

    The article, titled “Will next generation move banks beyond challenges?” was published last month.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A paper co-authored by Northern State University School of Business Dean Dr. Tim Mantz has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Business Strategy™ (IJBS).

    The paper is titled “Brand Recall Within Advergames and the Effect of the Hand Held Controller on Flow State in India.” The research, which is part of a larger study involving several countries, demonstrates the higher value of advertising within Xbox games.
