  •  ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University music department will present their annual Jazz Spectacular at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Main Theater, featuring NSU students and faculty.

    The student-led jazz-fusion band, “Jet Lagged,” will kick off the evening’s festivities. “Jet Lagged” is led by NSU student percussionist, Paulo Jimenez. The group will showcase their music with guest performer and NSU music faculty member, Dr. Fred Hemke.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Peter Ramey, assistant professor of English at Northern State University, has recently published an article in the journal, Modern Philology, examining early English vocabulary.

    The article, titled “The Riddle of Beauty: The Aesthetics of Wrætlic in Old English Verse,” was published on Feb. 1.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A husband and wife musical duo will perform at an upcoming concert at Northern State University.

    Dr. Kenneth Boulton and JoAnne Barry will present “Music for Piano Four-Hands” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in NSU’s Krikac Auditorium.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Department of Languages, Literature and Communication Studies will host a series of poetry readings in collaboration with the SD Humanities Council’s Speaker’s Bureau.

    The first poetry reading will occur at 4:30 p.m. in the NSU Beulah-Williams Library Round Room on Monday, Feb. 27, featuring the work of Dr. Pen Pearson.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The third annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will bring an expert in agricultural economics to the campus of Northern State University.

    Dr. Michael Boehlje’s speech, presented by the NSU School of Business and Dacotah Bank, will take place on Thursday, April 6. The event begins with a brunch buffet at 7:30 a.m. in Dacotah Hall. Boehlje will speak at 8:30 a.m. in Krikac Auditorium.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theater department will present their winter production, “The Metromaniacs,” in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Lawrence Diggs will be speaking on the topic of “Erasing Imaginary Lines” in observance of Black History Month at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Northern State University Centennial Room.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University art department faculty member, Gratia Brown’s art exhibition entitled “Recontextualize” will be displayed in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

    Brown’s exhibition will be showcased through March 31. An opening reception for the event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the JFAC Gallery.
