Nancy Jark-Krumm grew up in the Aberdeen area, just 25 miles from NSU. She earned her BA in Art at Northern, later returning to higher education to earn a BS in Psychology at SDSU. After graduating from Northern, she spent time in both the US and Sweden training and showing horses. Living and working in another country, experiencing their culture and unique perspectives, gave her a deep passion for learning about the world.

Nancy also has experience in the hotel and hospitality industry, first living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for 7 years in hotel management. Her biggest joys were meeting and greeting travelers from many different areas, and fostering an atmosphere of teamwork through cross-training employees.  After returning to South Dakota, Nancy continued working in the hospitality field, first working for the Brookings Chamber/Convention and Visitors Bureau/Economic Development Corp as administrative assistant, then spending 9 years as Executive Director of the Aberdeen Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Nancy is passionate about animals of all types. After retiring from the Aberdeen CVB, she owned and operated Sand Lake Kennels, raising great family dogs with a theme of “Happiness is Just a Wag Away.” Her joy was in maintaining relationships with her puppy families from coast to coast and four international countries.

Most recently, Nancy came back to her roots, joining NSU in April of 2025 as administrative assistant for the International program. Her love of all things equine, as well as supporting animals in need, is a driving passion. Her zeal for learning about other cultures, her love of travel, and her wonderful experiences as a student at Northern make her excited to help students from around the world. In her free time, she enjoys reading, riding, being out in nature, and taking walks with her two dogs, Spike and Justice.
