Chris Sanderson, BSN, RN, serves as an Instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program at Northern State University. He began his healthcare career as a paramedic in 1996 and has dedicated his career to patient care, nursing practice, and nursing education.

Chris earned his Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma from Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, South Dakota, and later obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Presentation College. His clinical experience includes medical-surgical nursing, intensive care (ICU), and outpatient clinic settings , providing him with a broad and diverse nursing background.

In addition to his clinical and teaching experience, Chris served as the Program Director for the Practical Nursing Program at Presentation College, where he provided leadership in curriculum development, program administration, student success initiatives, and faculty collaboration.

Today, Chris teaches within the BSN Nursing Program at Northern State University, where he is passionate about preparing the next generation of nurses through clinical experiences, simulation-based learning, and mentorship. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Nurse Educator specialization at Western Governors University (WGU).

Teaching Philosophy: I believe in a student-first, hands-on approach to nursing education. By creating engaging learning experiences through simulation, clinical practice, and active participation, I help students connect theory to practice and develop the confidence, critical thinking, and clinical judgment necessary for success as professional nurses. My goal is to support, challenge, and mentor students as they grow into compassionate and competent healthcare professionals.
