Math Education Bachelor's Degree

NSU's B.S.Ed. degree in math education will prepare you to teach secondary school math or for graduate-level study in mathematics. At NSU, math education students take the same core math classes as general math majors - building an especially strong foundation in mathematics for teaching.

History Education Bachelor's Degree

As an NSU history education major, you’ll learn to read critically, write effectively, reach your full potential as a citizen - and teach history.

 

NSU history students use the historical method to investigate important questions about society; perform research and clearly present findings; and identify and explain important events and issues in American and world history.

Environmental Science Bachelor's Degree

Northern’s environmental science bachelor's degree program merges biological, physical, and information sciences with the study of environmental systems, issues, and solutions to major environmental problems.

As an environmental science major at Northern, you'll study the fascinating interrelation between the natural sciences. You'll examine the relationship between living organisms and the ecosystems in which they live, addressing how humans affect the environment and how you can help reduce or even reverse negative impacts.

English Education Bachelor's Degree

As an NSU English education major, you’ll learn to write clearly, read critically, connect ideas meaningfully, understand diversity, relate historical context to human interactions, and see others empathetically. NSU's English program is structured with different areas of emphasis to help you tailor your major to suit your needs and career goals.

 

At NSU, English education majors complete courses required for the teaching emphasis and professional education course work in secondary education.

Communication Studies Bachelor's Degree

Effectively presenting yourself and your ideas is crucial, regardless of your profession. As a student in Northern's communication studies bachelor's degree program, you'll learn to understand and practice communication, developing insight into and ability in effective expression and listening.

Chemistry Education Bachelor's Degree

As a student of Northern's chemistry education bachelor's degree program, you’ll learn to operate a wide range of modern instruments, including ultraviolet visible and infrared (UV and IR) spectrophotometers, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrophotometer, among others.

Chemistry Bachelor's Degree

NSU chemistry majors are encouraged to explore their individual interests and work closely with professors on research projects. Students may be able to present the results of their research at national or regional meetings - even to publish their works in scientific journals.

 

As part of NSU's preprofessional programs, the study of chemistry provides excellent preparation for medical, dental, veterinary, or chiropractic school admission. It also prepares students to attend graduate school or work in the chemical industry.
