“I am from a big college town, and I knew from living there that a big school wasn’t for me.

Because Northern is a smaller school, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a lot of ways around campus. For example, I am the Business LLC Peer Mentor for Residence Life, as well as a member of Honors, CICS and Business Club. I am also a cheerleader for football and basketball and a Communications and Marketing intern.

One of the coolest opportunities that I have gotten at Northern, however, is the chance to study abroad. This last summer I went to Cambodia and Thailand, and it was a dream come true. As someone who was born in North Dakota and now goes to school in South Dakota, I have a very bland taste pallet, so I was worried the most about what I was going to eat, but the food was honestly a highlight of that trip.

At Northern I am most thankful for how close everything is. Having campus not very spread out helps the university feel more like its own intimate community.”
