Northern State University's Reading Clinic is a free, after-school tutoring program that focuses on improving K-5 students’ understanding of word recognition and language comprehension concepts while enhancing teacher candidates content knowledge and pedagogical skills.

Fall session is full. Spring 2027 applications will open six weeks prior to the start of the spring semester.

Clinic sessions are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Each K–5 student is paired with an NSU elementary/special education major who guides them through systematic and explicit lessons. These lessons are designed to ensure that students progressively build each skill, apply it with automaticity, and gain confidence as readers. All clinic sessions are supervised by the NSU Reading Clinic Director.

• Clinic runs on Wednesdays after school
• Each session is 30 minutes
• Transportation is not provided
• Spots are limited
