Each year, the Northern Galleries and Art Department welcome nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists to campus.
During their visit, artists present a public exhibition of their work, deliver an artist lecture, and lead hands-on workshops that engage students, faculty, and the broader community.
Through these residencies, students have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with exhibiting artists during workshops.
- Receive individualized feedback on their artwork through studio visits and portfolio reviews.
- Learn firsthand about contemporary artistic practice, professional careers, and creative processes.
- Build meaningful connections with practicing artists whose perspectives extend beyond Northern's faculty.
These visiting artist residencies transform the classroom into an active creative exchange, giving students direct access to professional artists while expanding cultural opportunities for the campus and regional community.
