Northern's opportunities and support lead to therapy career
"I recently graduated from the clinical mental health counseling program at NSU. I am now a therapist at Capstone Treatment Center in Arkansas, where we treat addiction for young men ages 14-26.
"During my time at Northern I worked closely with my classmates and professors because of the small class sizes. There were always opportunities for me to ask questions to gain a better understanding.
"My professors supported me in research. I had the opportunity to present at the SDCA, NDCA, and COSMA conferences. I also helped present mental health topics to student athletes.
"I also was president of our Active Minds Club at NSU - I was able to connect with other students on campus and help organize activities, like our participation in the Out of the Darkness Walk last Fall and various campus activities.
"I also got to be the voice of the graduate programs on campus for Student Government Association. This gave me the chance to move toward positive changes on campus and interact with underclassmen and be a part of their work as well."
