ABERDEEN, S.D. – ShyAnn Springer’s future career plans were solidified over a restaurant children’s menu as a teen, Springer used the kids’ menu at a local Denny’s to teach English words to the Japanese exchange student staying with her family.

“I knew from that moment that I wanted to teach in Japan or South Korea,” said Springer, a Northern State University senior from Bradley.

Now, her dream career is about to become a reality.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Globally, a number of countries have tightened their borders and implemented travel bans due to COVID-19, forcing many students who were studying abroad this semester to end their travels prematurely. Some international students, however, have made the choice to stay abroad in the hopes of continuing their education. One such student at Northern State University is Matej Cip.

Northern State University welcomes dozens of international students from all over the globe every year, and prides itself on helping said students achieve their goals and work towards obtaining their future careers.

One particular international student, the NSU School of Businesses’ Betser Roney, is known on campus for being high-achieving, involved in numerous NSU events and a great leader.
