NSU International Programs receives four out of five awards at conference

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Four out of the five awards given out at the recent NAFSA Region IV Conference went to the Northern State University Office of International Programs—more awards than any one institution has ever received in one year.

NAFSA is a premiere organization committed to advancing international higher education. The awards were given out at the annual conference for NAFSA’s Region IV, which includes Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota and South Dakota.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business faculty members and staff from the NSU Office of International Programs traveled to China this month for the 26th annual Conference on International Business.

Northern State University sees increase in study abroad numbers

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Study Abroad has seen a significant increase this year, with nearly triple the number of participants in its programs compared to last year.

That success means all the hard work of staff, led by NSU Study Abroad and CEIB Advisor Dominika Blum, is paying off.

Blum said oftentimes, students tend to think of all the reasons they can’t study abroad – cost, time, parental support. But she’s been raising awareness that it’s possible for all students.

Northern to host several camps over the summer

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host a wide variety of summer camps and events throughout the next three months.

Below is a list of camps/workshops that will take place at NSU throughout the summer:

NSU Upward Bound: The 2019 NSU Upward Bound Summer Program will run from May 26 to July 3. High school students from surrounding area high schools will stay on campus and be a part of this year’s program.

ShyAnn Springer receives SR Education Group scholarship for study abroad

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University College of Arts and Sciences student ShyAnn Springer recently received a $5,000 scholarship from the SR Education Group to study abroad in Japan.

Springer is a junior English major with an emphasis in TESOL from Bradley, S.D.

To receive this scholarship, Springer answered two open-ended, personal questions that were evaluated by a panel of judges. Students who wrote the most persuasive, compelling, and well-written arguments were considered finalists.
