    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Three Northern State University School of Business faculty members have published a collaborative case study in the Journal of Case Studies.

    Drs. Kristi Bockorny, Salvador Villegas and Daniel Shannahan authored “Modes of Entry: The Best Choice for a Boutique Owner,” which appears in the Fall 2024 issue (Vol. 42, Issue 3).   • Morgan Stadler awarded the Douglas Steckler Professional Development Award

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Morgan Stadler, assistant director of financial aid at Northern State University, has been awarded the Douglas Steckler Professional Development Award by the South Dakota Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SDASFAA).

    The award, presented annually at the SDASFAA conference, honors one member for outstanding service to the association.     ABERDEEN, S.D. – For Donovan Knecht and his mother, Michelle Knecht, May 10 will be more than just a day to walk across the stage—it will be the culmination of a journey they took side by side.

  • Wiitala to Deliver Commencement Address at Northern State University

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is proud to announce that Mr. Gregg Wiitala, Distinguished Alumnus of 2012, will deliver the 2025 spring commencement address on Saturday, May 10.

    Wiitala graduated from Northern in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in economics. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in economic development from Ohio University in 1972. Over the course of his career, he has led economic expansion projects across developing and poverty-stricken countries, including work in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University and area high schools will honor graduating veterans and service members during the American Legion Cording Ceremony, set for 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in the lobby of Northern’s Jewett Regional Science Education Center.

  • Northern State University and United Way to Host 23rd Annual Day of Champions

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Athletic Department and United Way of Northeastern South Dakota are teaming up for the 23rd annual Day of Champions on Saturday, May 3.

    The Day of Champions began in 2002 as a collaborative service initiative between Northern and the United Way. Since then, more than 3,400 NSU student-athletes have completed over 291 community projects, totaling more than 22,200 volunteer hours—a value of approximately $375,602 in donated labor.

  • U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune Visits Northern State University

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune visited Northern State University on Tuesday, April 15, to meet with students, faculty and staff.

    The visit began with a campus tour alongside Northern State University President Neal Schnoor and Vice President for Finance and Administration Veronica Paulson, including a stop at the Cecil Harris statue. The statue holds personal significance for the senator, as Harris flew alongside Thune’s late father, Harold Thune, during World War II.

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony, led by Director Christopher Stanichar, invites the public to a concert featuring Brulé at 7:30 p.m. May 3 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater at Northern State University.
