ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Maggie Kruger was recently featured in the July/August edition of South Dakota Magazine for her involvement in NSU’s film program and athletics.

Kruger, who is pursuing her studies at Northern, has already made her mark as a filmmaker. Last November, she directed, shot, edited and acted in her short film Faileas. ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Eman Momeni, assistant professor of accounting at Northern State University, recently had his work published in the Afro-Asian Journal of Finance & Accounting.

His article, “The impact of an emerging market’s microstructure legislations on market efficiency: evidence from Iran,” looks at how new trading rules on the Tehran Stock Exchange influenced both pricing efficiency and investor behavior. ABERDEEN, S.D. — Northern State University's Millicent Atkins School of Education will celebrate the completion of major renovations to the historic H.P. Gerber Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Friday, Sept. 19. 

The celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 4:15 p.m., followed by an open house from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Both events will take place at the H.P. Gerber Building on the Northern State University campus.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – A new article by Dr. Keun Lee, professor of economics at Northern State University, has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Finance and Banking Studies.

The article, titled Three Interest Rate Theories, will appear in an upcoming volume of the peer-reviewed journal.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will offer a new Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd) focused on Career and Technical Education (CTE)—a unique degree in the state’s public university system designed to meet South Dakota’s growing need for qualified CTE teachers.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Patrick Olson has been selected to serve on the National Farmers Union Youth Advisory Council, a prestigious opportunity that took shape following his participation in the recent D.C. Leadership Summit.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Jason Knowles, Assistant Professor of Art at Northern State University, has received an award from the 2025 New Media Film Festival for his original short film Ever So Faintly I See. Jakob Lund is the first University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law graduate to have participated in the Northern State University Honors Law Opportunity Program.

Lund left Kansas City, Missouri, his hometown, to attend Northern State University. The university, located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, partners with the law school through the program to provide five guaranteed admission spots to selected honors students upon completion of their undergraduate degree.
