ABERDEEN, S.D. — Northern State University is pleased to announce four finalists for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will succeed Dr. Mike K. Wanous, who retired after six years of dedicated service to Northern State University. The finalists are:

  • Dr. Erin Fouberg
  • Dr. Michelle Metzinger
  • Dr. Thomas B. Rowan III
  • Dr. John Shannon

Each finalist will visit campus for open forums where faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members will have the opportunity to meet with the candidates. Forum schedules and candidate information will be available at northern.edu/academics/academic-affairs/search/pvpaa.

The provost serves as a member of the President's Executive Leadership Team and provides leadership for Northern's four colleges — the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the Millicent Atkins School of Education and the School of Fine Arts. Academic Affairs additionally oversees Graduate Programs, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Beulah Williams Library, Instructional Design, Institutional Research and Assessment, Online Learning and Continuing Education, the Student Success Center, International Programs and the Honors Program.

The search is led by co-chairs Sean Blackburn, dean of students, and Dr. Kristi Bockorny, Dacotah Bank Dean of the School of Business, along with a campus-wide search committee representing faculty, staff, students and the NSU Foundation.
