ABERDEEN, S.D. – Winners have been announced from the 2021 Northern State University Concerto-Aria Competition.

The winners are:

  • Instrumental winner: Lucas Fredrick (euphonium), from Westport, a student of Dr. Travis Netzer
  • Vocal winner: Dylan Rausch (tenor), from Yankton, a student of Mr. Michael Skyles.
  • Honorable Mention: Tanner Pietz, Aberdeen, baritone.

A total of 16 Northern fine arts students participated in the annual competition, held Thursday, Nov. 18 in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. Winners were selected by an outside panel of three judges.

Fredrick and Rausch will now appear with the Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony at a concert on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. in JFAC.
