ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Stanichar, will continue the celebration of its 100th season with its next concert, “Unfinished Business.”
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Jewett Theater. A pre-concert conversation is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. in the JFAC Berggren Recital Hall.
The concert features great works left unfinished or incomplete, including Beethoven’s “Overture to Fidelio”; Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony”; and Borodin’s “Polovetsian Dances from Prince Igor” with the NSU choirs, conducted by Dr. Timothy Woods.
The concert will also feature performances by Northern’s Concerto-Aria Competition winners, NSU students Rosemary Vega and Eduardo Mendoza. Vega will sing Bizet’s “Je dis que rien que mepouvante” from “Carmen.” Mendoza will perform Paul Creston’s “Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra” (first movement).
