Mary Poppins

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Auditions for child actors to play the roles of Jane and Michael Banks in this April’s NSU Theater production of Mary Poppins will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 14, in the Black Box Theater in the Johnson Fine Arts Center.

The time for the auditions will be 11 a.m. to noon.

“Anyone who has seen the film knows what an important part the Banks children play in the story,” said Director Daniel Yurgaitis. “Whichever children are cast will also get the opportunity to fly with Mary Poppins in performance, too!”

Children auditioning should be between the ages of 9 and 13 and be able to play the ages of Jane (11) or Michael (9). They must be available for rehearsals, which begin Feb. 20. “Mary Poppins” begins performances on April 19 and continues through Sunday, April 23.

Hopeful actors should arrive by 10:45 a.m. Jan. 14 to check in and should come prepared to perform. The children will be taught a song and should be prepared to read from sides which will be available at auditions. If they wish, children may learn a song from the movie, but should bring sheet music for the accompanist.

Families should bring along a schedule to make sure children cast will be able to attend all scheduled rehearsals. For additional information, call Yurgaitis at 605-626-2564 or email him at yurgaitd@northern.edu.
