ABERDEEN, S.D. – Starting in January 2022, Dacotah Bank customers can display their Northern State University pride every time they make a purchase – while raising money for student scholarships.

The NSU Foundation has partnered with Dacotah Bank to unveil an NSU debit card. The maroon card, which pictures a Northern Wolf logo or the Northern “N” logo, will be exclusively available to Dacotah Bank account holders.

“Dacotah Bank is one of our top community partners, and we’re thrilled that they’ve chosen to collaborate with us in a way that allows their customers to show their support for Northern as well,” said NSU President Dr. Neal Schnoor.

Every purchase a Dacotah Bank customer makes with their NSU debit card will result in a Dacotah Bank contribution to the NSU Foundation in support of scholarships for Northern students. Dacotah Bank cardholders will not be charged additional fees for access.

“Students are our top priority, and Dacotah Bank’s partnership helps Northern provide scholarships that make a big impact to our students’ education,” said NSU Foundation President and CEO Zach Flakus.

Dacotah Bank President Robert Fouberg said the bank has a long history of partnering with Northern through its Dacotah Bank Scholars program; the Lamont-Rhodes Lecture Series; and various capital campaigns such as the recent Educational Impact Campaign, which resulted in several new facilities on the NSU campus including Dacotah Bank Stadium. The NSU debit card is one more way for the organizations to strengthen that bond.

“Northern is vitally important to our community and the entirety of northeastern South Dakota as a source of education, entertainment and employees,” Fouberg said. “We’re proud to give back to our community and to support the university and its students in this way.”
