
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Several Northern State University faculty members have been recognized with 2025 Faculty Awards for their continued commitment to research, academic collaboration and innovation.
This year’s Sanford Faculty Development Awards for Research—each including a $1,000 stipend—were awarded to:
- Dr. Eman Momeni, assistant professor of accounting, for Audit report lag and its contemporary issues: a comparative review of literature
- Dr. Jodie Ramsay, professor of biology, for Digitization of the NSU herbarium
- Dr. Jon Schaff, professor of government, for The end of literature: imagination and its enemies
- Dr. Lucas Wiscons, assistant professor of criminal justice, for his co-authorship of the Fourth Edition of The Criminalization of Mental Illness
The Sanford Faculty Development Award for Interdisciplinary Research, which provides $2,000 in support, was awarded to:
- Dr. Sal Villegas, assistant professor of banking, financial services, and management; and
- Dr. Pamela Monaghan-Geernaert, assistant professor of sociology, for No dead Indians—just spirits everywhere
The Nora Staael Evert Award, valued at $3,000, was presented to:
- Dr. Samantha St. Clair, assistant professor of biology, for her project Investigating metabolic effects of dietary tomato supplementation in overfed zebrafish
The Lauver Fund for Academic Excellence, a $10,000 award supporting collaborative academic initiatives, was awarded to:
- Jason Knowles, assistant professor of art/digital media;
- Meng Tian, assistant professor of communication studies; and
- Hannah Walters, associate professor of marketing, for Digital Futures: Experiential Learning in Media, Marketing, and Communication
