Northern State University Alumna Emily Schumacher Crowned Miss Minnesota

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is proud to announce that Emily Schumacher, a 2018 Honors Graduate, has been crowned Miss Minnesota 2024. The prestigious title was awarded after a rigorous three-day competition held at Treasure Island Resort & Casino, culminating on Friday, June 21.

Representing Miss Mankato, Schumacher outshone 18 other contestants, securing a $10,000 scholarship and the opportunity to represent Minnesota in the 2025 Miss America pageant. Her impressive performance included a tap dance to “Elvis Has Left the Building” during the talent portion of the competition.

Schumacher's community service initiative, “The Heart of the Matter,” focuses on advocating for heart health and heart disease prevention. As Miss Minnesota, she plans to leverage her medical expertise to promote this cause statewide.

"Thanks to the Miss America opportunity and the Miss Minnesota organization, I graduated debt-free from Northern State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Currently applying to medical school, I have been awarded over $35,000 in academic scholarships through this organization. My time at Northern amplified my passion for heart health and community advocacy, greatly influenced by the impactful classes and professors I encountered," said Schumacher.

The Miss Minnesota competition featured 19 contestants aged 18-28, who competed in various categories including Private Interview, On Stage Question, Health & Fitness, Performance Talent, and Evening Gown.

Northern State University extends its heartfelt congratulations to Emily Schumacher on this remarkable achievement. We are proud to see our alumni making significant contributions and serving as role models in their communities.
