ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is introducing a new scholarship opportunity designed to make higher education more accessible for post-traditional and transfer students beginning in fall 2026.
The Maroon and Gold Scholarship—named for Northern’s official colors—provides a $1,000 one-time award for eligible students returning to college, transferring from another institution, or first-time students who meet eligibility requirements.
“This scholarship reinforces Northern’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality education for learners at every stage of life,” said Eric Kline, enrollment management officer. “We’re proud to offer support that helps students continue their academic journey.”
To qualify, students must be accepted to Northern for Fall 2026, enroll in at least six credits per semester, complete the FAFSA, and pursue an undergraduate associate or bachelor’s degree. Eligible students are automatically awarded the scholarship—no separate application or essay is required.
