ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Fine Arts’ Annual Juried Student Exhibition will be on display in the NSU Student Center Gallery Feb. 26-March 16.

This year’s exhibition features 23 pieces of art from 17 different NSU student artists.

A closing reception for the exhibition will be held on Tuesday, March 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the NSU Student Center Gallery. Guest juror, Ryan Stander, will be present to announce the awards of the exhibition. This reception is free and open to the public.

Originally from the farmlands of northwest Iowa, Stander is a transplant to central North Dakota. Drawing upon his theological background, the themes of memory, identity and place often rise to the fore in his work.

As a printmaker and photographer, his work has been exhibited internationally in South Africa, China, Central and South America; nationally in New York and Boston; and across the Upper Midwest. Stander is currently an assistant professor of art at Minot State University in Minot, N.D., where he teaches photography, directs the BFA program and co-directs Flat Tail Press and Gallery.
