ABERDEEN, S.D. — Northern State University's Millicent Atkins School of Education will host the Educators Rising Learning Expo on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The free event invites high school students to explore careers in education through hands-on activities and networking opportunities.

Terra McQuillen, language arts teacher at Central High School in Aberdeen, will deliver the keynote address.

"The Educators Rising Learning Expo offers aspiring teachers a firsthand look at the rewarding world of education," said Dr. Anna Schwan, dean of the Millicent Atkins School of Education. "Education is at the very foundation of Northern State University, which was once known as Northern State Teachers College. This rich history in teacher preparation continues to drive our commitment to nurturing the next generation of educators, providing them with the tools and inspiration they need to succeed in this vital profession."

The expo will feature:

  • Interactive sessions and breakout activities
  • Opportunities to meet NSU education students, faculty and alumni
  • Free admission and lunch

Educators Rising, a national organization, aims to cultivate skilled educators by guiding young people from high school through college and into teaching careers.
