ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is preparing students to lead in a data-driven world with the launch of its new Bachelor of Science in Analytics program in Fall 2026. Housed within the School of Business, the program is now accepting applications.

The addition of the Bachelor of Science in Analytics marks a significant milestone for the School of Business, bringing its total number of bachelor’s degree programs to 10. The new degree prepares students to collect, analyze and interpret data to address real-world challenges and support informed decision-making across a variety of industries.

“The School of Business faculty have been working hard to create new programs and update the curriculum to make sure we are meeting the students’ interests and workforce needs,” said Dr. Kristi Bockorny, Dacotah Bank Dean of the School of Business. “Our students want a career when they graduate, and it is our job to provide programs and opportunities for our students to learn the skills and qualifications they need to be successful.”

Northern’s Analytics program blends classroom instruction with hands-on learning opportunities, including projects, internships and partnerships with regional businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Students will gain experience using industry-standard tools such as Python, R and SQL, applying their skills to areas including business intelligence, marketing and sports analytics.

Students enrolled in the program will develop a strong foundation in statistical analysis, programming, data visualization and predictive modeling. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasizes critical thinking, communication and ethical reasoning—skills essential for success in today’s data-driven world where demand for analytics professionals continues to grow at a rapid pace.
