ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Symphonic Band and Concert Band will present “A Celebration of Women Composers” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center.

The concert will feature the work of Julie Giroux, Anne McGinty, Jennifer Higdon, Kathryn Salfelder, Kimberly Archer, and Shelley Hanson. The program will include a variety of music such as unique non-traditional marches, a tone poem about Christ on the Cross, and a piece that features antiphonal brass inspired by the music of Giovanni Gabrieli.

The Symphonic Band is conducted by Dr. Rolf Olson, NSU associate professor of music/director of bands. The Concert Band is conducted by Dr. Audrey Miller, NSU assistant professor of clarinet.

Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults and $2.50 for NSU faculty/staff. NSU students are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased through the NSU School of Fine Arts webpage (northern.edu/artsnsu).
