ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will present “Bands: a la carte,” for their symphonic winter tour, “La Folie.”

The tour will start Feb. 5-6, and visit high schools in Huron, Mitchell, Tea Area, and Sioux Falls. The symphonic band will also present two special performances at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 8, at the SDSU Performing Arts Center in Brookings, S.D., for the South Dakota Bandmasters Convention, and 3 p.m. Feb. 10, at the Johnson Fine Arts Center in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater in Aberdeen.

“La Folie” will be narrated by Donna Dozier, a graduate from the Magdalene House in Nashville, Tenn. The Magdalene House is a two-year residential community program, offering women who have been survivors of trafficking, prostitution and addiction the time and space they need to heal.

Dozier’s narration along with the choir’s pieces will give the audience insight to her life-changing experience in the Magdalene House, as well as the emotions she felt.

The tour’s featured compositions will also cover themes such as romance, fantasy and locations. The conductors and their bands, composers, and soloists are as follows:

  • NSU Symphonic Band, conducted by Dr. Rolf Olson
  • NSU Chamber Singers, conducted by Dr. Timothy Woods
  • NSU Percussion, directed by Dr. Terry Beckler
