ABERDEEN, S.D. – A reception for Northern State University student Daae An’s senior art exhibition will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the NSU Student Center.

The exhibition, which will be on display Dec. 1-15, will include jewelry, textile design, motion graphic and graphic design. An is interested in experimental graphics and diverse media.

An, the daughter of Eun-seong Ahn and Yeong-suk Kim, grew up in South Korea, graduating from Chi-ak high school in 2014.

An is majoring in graphic design, but previously majored in metal and textile craft. At Northern, she has studied with Nadya Preszler for photography and Keum-Taek Jung for web design, motion graphic design and interface design. All of Northern’s art professors are nice, An said.

“I wasn’t a degree-seeking student when I came here first,” she said. “I was an exchange student for one semester and then I decided to stay became a degree-seeker. One of the biggest reasons that made me stay here was the professors and art students.”

Other reasons included feeling welcomed as an international student, and the nice, clean facilities in Dacotah Hall. An will graduate from Northern in December, with future plans including moving to California to find a job.

“Someday I want to be a freelancer designer and travel all over the world,” she said.
