ABERDEEN, S.D. – NSU Symphonic Band will be holding their concert entitled “Band Extravaganza III – Band a la Mode” April 14, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater.

The concert will feature the NSU Symphonic Band, conducted by NSU Professor of Music Dr. Rolf Olson, and NSU Concert Band, conducted by Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Audrey Miller.

The program will present the following pieces performed by the NSU Concert, Symphonic and combined bands:

Concert Band

  • “Imaginarium” by Randall Standridge
  • “First Suite - Eb I. Chaconne” by Gustav Holst
  • “Shenendoah” by Frank Ticheli
  • “Mazama” by Jay Chattaway

Symphonic Band

  • “Strike up the Band” by George Gershwin
  • “Song for Lindsay” by Andrew Boysen Jr.
  • “LOL” by Robert Buckley
  • “Uncle Henry” by Howard Akers
  • “Engulfed Cathedral” by Claude Debussy
  • “Last Centaur” by Rosano Gallante
  • “Magnolia Star” by Steve Danyew

Combined Bands:

  • “Selections from Les Miserables” by Jay Bocook

Admission is free and open to the public. Ice cream will be served after the concert.
