ABERDEEN, S.D. – Beulah Williams Library at Northern State University will be hosting a pair of evening events in April.
The first event is a presentation and exhibition by George Prisbe, who painted the popular Dunnland series. He is a former NSU faculty member, and his South Dakota-themed paintings can be found in museums, libraries, and private collections throughout the state. Several are part of collections in Aberdeen and will be on display at the event. He will speak about his inspiration and process in creating this series of paintings at 7 p.m. on April 9. The presentation will be in the library's round room and is free and open to the public.
The second event is the first in a series of annual events focused on local history. The Arthur Buntin Public History Lecture Series will include presentations each April, beginning April 16. The series is named in memory of Dr. Arthur Buntin, a longtime NSU history professor and author on local history topics. The inaugural event will feature a presentation by Dr. David Grettler of NSU. He will speak on "The Remarkable Life and Times of James 'Akicita' King" on April 16 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be in the library's round room and is free and open to the public.
