ABERDEEN, S.D. — Northern State University bands will present “Celebration!” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Jewett Theater at the Johnson Fine Arts Center.

The concert will bring together three Northern musical ensembles — the Symphonic Band, Concert Band and NSU Jazz Ensemble — for an afternoon of performances featuring classical and contemporary band literature, big band favorites, rhythm and blues, and modern jazz.

The Symphonic Band, directed by Audrey Miller, Northern's director of bands and music department chair, will perform a selection of classic and contemporary works. The program will also feature Terry Beckler as a guest conductor for “American Overture.”

The Concert Band, directed by Adrian Lowry, will present a variety of musical selections and feature student conductors Angel Olivo Porcayo and Gavin Wollman.

The NSU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Grant Manhart, will perform selections celebrating the big band era, rhythm and blues, and modern jazz.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will also be livestreamed on the Northern State University Music Department's YouTube and Facebook pages.
