ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Northern State University School of Fine Arts will open its 2026-27 season with two events on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Johnson Fine Arts Center — a student art show reception and the annual Music Faculty Showcase Recital.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the opening reception for the Welcome Back Student Art Show in Gallery X. Simultaneously, a closing reception will be held in the JFAC Art Gallery for the 2026 Annual National Juried Exhibition.

At 7:30 p.m., the Music Faculty Showcase Recital will take place in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater, featuring an array of solo and chamber performances by NSU music faculty.

"This evening is always something the entire Fine Arts faculty looks forward to," said Dr. Kenneth Boulton, dean of the School of Fine Arts. "It represents the official opening event of our exciting 2026-27 season."

Both events are free and open to the public. Donations to the music scholarship fund will be welcome. The recital will also be livestreamed at facebook.com/MusicNSU.
