  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A committee of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs has reviewed and accepted a Quality Assurance Report by the Northern State University School of Business.

    This acceptance by the ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners is an extension of the NSU School of Business’ 2016 accreditation with the organization.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – In her first few weeks of work, Heather Aldentaler, the new director of NSU’s Counseling Center, found herself faced with a furry surprise.

    At a meeting at Northern’s facilities management office, Aldentaler was approached by a man holding a kitten.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will hold a community forum 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, to discuss its campus master plan, including projects of the Educational Impact Campaign.

    The forum, which is open to the public, will be held in the NSU Student Center Centennial Rooms.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. Starting spring 2018, contractor Kansas Turf and Northern have been working together to lay down new turf on Northern’s campus behind what used to be Jerde Hall, a project that has attracted a lot of attention.

    The new turf is part of Northern’s brand new Athletic and Recreation Fields, one of three projects of the Educational Impact Campaign, and covers both the soccer field and the football practice field.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Elsa Swanson will hold a senior recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in Northern State University’s Krikac Auditorium.

    Swanson, the daughter of Paul and Caroline Swanson, grew up in Chaska, Minn., graduating from Chanhassen High School in 2014.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D.  – Northern State University’s International Friendship Family Program is taking applications for families to share their American experience while making students feel welcome in our community.

    Through the NSU Friendship Family Program, international students spend time with their “Friendship Family” doing family things at least once a month and keep in contact weekly. The name “Friendship Family” is used instead of “Host Family” because the students are responsible for themselves financially and generally live on campus.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A $2.5 million state grant will support construction of a new School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, part of the school’s joint Educational Impact Campaign with Northern State University.

    The grant, which was approved by Governor Dennis Daugaard, comes from the Governor's Office of Economic Development Future Fund and is a partial match to the city of Aberdeen's recent commitment of $5 million to the campaign. A further match of $2.5 million may be considered next year, but would be subject to the approval of Daugaard's successor.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Local businesses, nonprofits, churches and other organizations are invited to Northern State University’s fifth annual Community Marketplace, set for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, on the campus green.

    The event is an opportunity for off-campus groups to promote their goods, services and job opportunities. (The direct sale of goods to students on campus is not permitted.) The NSU Community Marketplace is also intended to introduce students to volunteer opportunities in the area.
