  • Indianapolis – The Northern State University men’s and women’s basketball programs have made it a decade as the NCAA National Attendance leaders at the Division II level. Over that ten year period, the two programs have averaged 3,461 fans on the men’s side and 2,702 fans on the women’s side per home contest.

    In 2016-17 the Northern State University men brought in a total of 49,728 fans, averaging 3,552 per game. The Wolves averaged nearly 900 more fans per game than… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Local businesses, nonprofits, churches and other organizations are invited to Northern State University’s fourth annual Community Marketplace, set for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, on the campus green.

    The event is an opportunity for off-campus groups to promote their goods, services and job opportunities. (The direct sale of goods to students on campus is not permitted.) The NSU Community Marketplace is also intended to introduce students to volunteer opportunities in the area.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D.  – The 2017 Northern State University back-to-school workshop will be held 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 16 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    The workshop, titled “Using High-Leverage Practices to Support Ambitious Learning for All Students,” will be led by Francesca Forzani and Nicole Garcia of TeachingWorks. The event is for all educators who want to improve their teaching practice.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 4, 2017) – Northern State University’s online Master of Music Education degree has received final accreditation approval from the National Association of Schools of Music.

    “This is the result of years of effective planning and implementation by dedicated faculty and administration,” said NSU School of Fine Arts Dean Dr. Kenneth Boulton.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 1, 2017) – Northern State University is hosting the Rushmore Junior High Music Camp this week for band students in grades 6-9.

    The annual camp will culminate in a final concert at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, on the NSU campus green, on the east side of the Student Center.

    The concert is free and open to the public. It will feature nearly 90 middle school/junior high students performing in choir, Rushmore Singers, jazz band and concert band.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 1, 2017) – Northern State University is offering something new this year at the Brown County Fair – a chance to win money to attend Northern.

    NSU is giving away $7,000 in scholarships for fall 2018. That’s seven $1,000 scholarships, or one for each day of the fair, which runs Aug. 14-20 at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. (July 31, 2017) Northern State University and Aberdeen Development Corporation will hold an event announcing their partnership and the relocation of the Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship.

    The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at The Workshop, 208 S. Main St., the new home of the Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship.
