  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – As Northern State University welcomes area high school students to campus for its annual Upward Bound Summer Program, the university is also pleased to announce the renewal of the NSU TRIO Upward Bound grant.

    The U.S. Department of Education has renewed the grant for another five years. The 2022-23 funding amount is $344,095, with a total amount of $1,720,475 over the five-year period.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Since the inception of the Northern State University Honors Program, Honors students have conducted research for thesis projects covering a variety of topics, ranging from education to environmental science to entrepreneurship.

    And the path to completing those thesis projects is a campus-wide effort—NSU Honors students receive assistance from a vast network of individuals from all across the Northern campus, in a variety of disciplines and departments.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The upcoming 16th season of Northern Fort Playhouse will celebrate Christmas in the summertime, with two holiday-themed productions planned at historic Fort Sisseton.

    NFP will present “A Charles Dickens Christmas” and “The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged).” Performances begin July 8, with both productions directed by Dr. Kane Anderson of the Northern State University Theatre Department.

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Three Northern State University students won awards for their entries in the Brown County Historical Society’s annual research and writing contest.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University has appointed Dr. Doug Ohmer as dean of the NSU School of Business and Dr. Anna Schwan as interim dean of the Millicent Atkins School of Education.

    Ohmer has worked at Northern since 1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and banking from Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky.; an MBA from Northern Kentucky University; and a Ph.D. in business administration/management from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s second annual GiveNDay surpassed its goal, with 1,817 donors raising $330,000 for the university and its students.

    GiveNDay, coordinated by the NSU Foundation, took place April 6-7, 2022. Also known as #OneDayOnePack, the 24-hour challenge is designed to inspire all supporters of Northern to come together to provide essential funding across the university.
