  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Athletic Department and United Way of Northeastern South Dakota are joining efforts to serve the community during the 22nd annual Day of Champions. On Saturday, April 27, the Wolves will make an impact by volunteering their time at several organizations within the Aberdeen area.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. — The 41st annual Northern South Dakota Science and Mathematics Fair, sponsored by Northern State University, 3M of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, is set for March 21, 2024. 

    Forty judges from Aberdeen and surrounding areas will evaluate projects and interview participating students in the morning.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Northern State University Theatre Program will present the play "Peter/Wendy" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater.

    Free performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 12 and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. April 13.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The former legal advisor and operational law instructor at NATO School Oberammergau Brian Bengs will deliver a keynote address at 7 p.m. April 2 in the Northern State University's Johnson Fine Arts Center Lecture Classroom 117. Bengs’ presentation, titled "Collective Self-Defense: Understanding U.S. Involvement in NATO," will provide an insightful exploration into the historical origins of NATO, its organizational structure, and its role in the international security system.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University will host the South Dakota Supreme Court next week for its March 2024 Term of Court. 

    “The South Dakota Supreme Court each spring and fall holds a term of court outside of our courtroom at the State Capitol in Pierre,” Chief Justice Jensen said. “These special sessions give South Dakotans an up-close look at how the judicial system works and how the courts resolve disputes.”

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Three Northern students were part of the team that won best film at this year’s 48Create competition held by the Capitol Cinema. 

    The six-person team was a mix of Northern students and Northern alumni. Jensen Eckart, Kayleen Hermans and John Schwab are current students. Kylee Carlson, Tony Kollman and Haley Salem are alumni. 

    The competition, formerly known as Fischgaard Film Project, challenges local filmmakers to produce a four- to eight-minute film in just 48 hours. This year, 16 teams participated in the competition which was… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Department of Music will present the 13th Annual Bach’s Lunch Concert at noon Wednesday, March 20.

    The concert, honoring the 339th birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave. N.E., Aberdeen, S.D. The concert is free and open to the public, and will be livestreamed over the Northern Music Department Facebook page.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern student Summer Carlson presented her research on the parasites of South Dakota birds at the Legislative Poster Session on Feb. 29 in Pierre, S.D.

    Carlson, a junior biology and environmental science major who is also pursuing a minor in chemistry, attended the session along with Northern Assistant Professor of Biology Eric Pulis.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – After 10 years of writing in between classes, Dr. Keun Lee has published his first book, “The Economics of Keynes and Uncertainty in Theory.”

    Lee, professor of economics, got the idea for the book from his class on macroeconomics.
