As a math major at Northern State University, each of your upper-level math courses will provide you with the foundational knowledge needed to pursue further mathematical study or a quantitative career outside of mathematics. In addition, if you’re interested in applying the mathematical skills you’ll acquire from our program to other pursuits, Northern offers minors or double majors in related fields such as chemistry, finance, or pre-law.

As an NSU music education major, you can learn to:
Teach music to K-12 students

The instrumental emphasis is for you if you’d like to teach K-12 instrumental music and supervise school music programs. You’ll be encouraged to take vocal courses to strengthen your musicianship.
As a student in our B.S.Ed. Physical Education program, you’ll learn scientific and fitness principles, pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching), and curriculum development from our diverse and experienced faculty.
Coursework within the major falls into three categories:
Physical education methodology
General teacher preparation
Exercise science
Physical education methodology courses train prospective teachers to promote physical literacy and are specific to the gymnasium.

As a social science education major at NSU, you'llbe prepared to teach a wide range of history and social science courses at the middle and high school levels. In many schools, the ability to teach multiple subjects is highly valued.
