  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony’s re-scheduled concert on Tuesday, March 21 featuring The Texas Tenors has been canceled.

    The Texas Tenors notified organizers that they would not be traveling to the event, citing weather concerns; thus, the decision was made to cancel the entire concert.  The concert will not be rescheduled.

    Refunds are available for anyone who has purchased tickets for this concert. To request a refund, please contact the Northern State University School of Fine Arts Office at 605-626-2497.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Kai Brisk will have an opening reception for his senior art show on March 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

    Brisk’s show, “Form and Function,” will be on display in the JFAC Gallery from March 20-31.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host the annual National History Day regional competition on Wednesday, March 8.

    Over 200 middle and high school students from around northeastern South Dakota will be participating in the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at NSU. Northern hosts this event every spring.

    Winners at the regional competition are invited to go to the state competition, and winners of the state competition advance to the national competition.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Department of Music will present the 12th Annual Bach’s Lunch Concert at noon Wednesday, March 22.

    The concert, titled “Psalms and Transformations,” will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave. N.E., Aberdeen.

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University students Dylan Eckart and Jakob Walden will have their senior recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 5, in Northern’s Krikac Auditorium.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Ginny Lewis has published the book, “The Novels of Zsigmond Móricz in the Context of European Realism.”

    In the book, released by publisher Peter Lang Group, Lewis focuses on seven novels by Móricz, analyzing each in chronological order to show the author’s development of themes surrounding agency and greed in modern society.
